Managing Director
Ms. Carol Annang
Ms. Carol Annang, joined Secure Pensions Trust Limited in July 2019. She has over 20 years’ multi-sectoral experience across financial services, pay television, hospitality and media. For 16 years, she worked at New World Investments rising through the ranks to the position of CEO. During that time, she co-led the advocacy project development and consequent establishment and management of the Teachers’ Fund – a defined contribution scheme to supplement the retirement benefits of over 200,000 teachers of the Ghana National Association of Teachers. Under her management (1998 – 2010), the Fund grew to over GHS200m. She also spearheaded the establishment of the Nurses’ Fund and the creation and management of a Welfare Fund for the staff of the Food and Drugs Authority at the time. Prior to joining New World, Carol worked as Sales and Marketing Manager for Multichoice where she supervised the launch of DSTV in Ghana and won the Best Sales Manager award. In 2015, Carol was appointed Managing Director of New Times Corporation, a state-owned media organization and publisher of the Ghanaian Times and Spectator newspapers. She led the successful redesign and relaunch of the Ghanaian Times newspaper and transformation of the website to a more user friendly interface. Under her strategic leadership, content sharing agreements were entered into to reach new audiences who were previously underserved. The newspapers also created social media channels to increase audience engagement.
Head of Operations
Mrs. Theresa M.D. Afile
Theresa M.D. Afile, Head of Operations of SPTL has progressive experience in Portfolio Management, Asset Allocation development and pension fund administration. During the course of her professional life, she has also gained valuable experience in the area of Administration and Human Resource Management. Prior to joining Secure Pensions Trust Limited, she worked with Lawfields Trust & Corporate Services where she was responsible for providing corporate secretarial services to clients, undertaking research and assisting with legal due diligence exercises on institutions towards fund raising from both local and international organisations. Theresa holds a BSc. in Agriculture (Agricultural Economics) from the University of Ghana and an MSc. in Social Protection Financing from the UoM Trust, University of Mauritius. She also has a certificate in Pensions Management from the African University College of Communications (AUCC) Pensions Academy.
Head of Investments and Marketing
Baaba Otua Koomson
Baaba Otua Koomson, Head of Investments and Marketing, has over 12 years’ experience in Portfolio and Fund Management. Her area of expertise includes Portfolio Construction, Asset Allocation and Investment Policy Design. Prior to taking up this challenge, Baaba worked as a Project Consultant for Xtreme Fun Limited and had previously been with Omega Capital Ltd as an Executive Director responsible for the growth and management of Mutual Funds and Pension Fund segments of the business. Baaba started her career in 2003 as an Investment Analyst at Databank Asset Management Limited and rose to the position of Head of Institutional Funds Strategic Business Unit in the same organisation over a span of 8 years. She holds a BSc. Administration (Banking & Finance) from the University of Ghana Business School and an MSc. in Finance from Durham Business School, UK.
